Abbvie Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis Virtual Reality Experience

Tipping Point Media (TPM) recognizes that many adults are kinesthetic learners and retain information best when it is experienced first hand. We immediately saw the potential educational value of Virtual Reality (VR) technology. Utilizing this technology, we were able to take users through a deep dive of two disease states; Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). This tool was leveraged at Abbvie’s annual congress meeting and as a learning tool for the sales force. This VR experience is comprised of three parts:

Cellular Signaling in the Immunopathogenesis of RA and PsA

This section takes users through a journey at both the cellular and molecular levels to learn about the mechanism of disease of inflammatory signaling. Through this interactive experience, users are able to learn about the role of immune cells, the cytokines involved in the inflammatory signaling pathway, and the role of JAK proteins in the inflammatory cascade.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Patient Journey

This section of the VR experience simulates the RA pain patients experience through visual, auditory, and haptic effects, while going through daily activities. Through this simulation users are also able to see the patients swollen joints and joint deformity.

Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) Patient Journey

Through this simulation, users are able to experience PsA through a patient perspective by seeing the patients swollen fingers, skin plaques, inflamed joints, joint deformity, and also see how the pain affects them while doing activities such as playing basketball, and a video game.
