Tipping Point Media is proud to announce that our Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Virtual Reality Experience has been awarded GOLD in the Brandon Hall Excellence in Technology Awards!

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a painful condition that can cause a great deal of suffering to patients. Traditional training on the disease state typically focuses on the clinical aspects of IBD. The award winning project is an immersive, Oculus Rift-based, virtual reality (VR) learning solution that takes the representative through a virtual tour of two intestines - one with Crohn’s disease(CD) and one with ulcerative colitis(UC) - to learn about each disease state. Representatives then embark on a patient journey where they hear from a patient suffering with IBD and apply what they have learned to diagnose him or her with CD or UC. The use of virtual reality allowed for a cost-effective strategy to explore an environment that would be difficult or impossible to recreate in real life. This “you are there” experience creates an opportunity to bring the disease to life and build empathy for patients.
