Enhancing Simulation Based Leaning with Gamification

In this workshop, we will discuss some of the key elements of gamification, including how to design interactions that create agency and user ownership. We’ll then explore the genre of “serious games” and present examples of mainstream applications utilizing this strategy. Finally, we will review a case study featuring an interactive training tool that Tipping Point Media developed in partnership with Merz Aesthetics. We will explore how gamification elements were used to transition a paper-based manual into a highly interactive, gamified, 3D simulation with the goal of increasing retention, confidence and audience reach.
